History of Roulette

You would have noticed several spectators eagerly gathered around the roulette table, with a small white ball allowed to spin around the wheel. But have you ever thought how Roulette got started?

In the early 17th century, a French mathematician named Blaise Pascal developed the game. The French translation of the word roulette is "little wheel." But the history of Roulette started from Rome. The basic concept of the game was designed though a game that Romans used to on their chariot wheels. But it only got famous in 1800's.

Louis and François Blanc, two brothers are known to develop the first casino in Monte Carlo, but the roulette had just a single zero to the roulette wheel. The numbers present on the roulette wheel were 1 to 36. Later, the 37-slot wheel, which had an additional single zero to increase house odds, was used in Europe and known as European Roulette.

In early 1900's, roulette got famous in the United States, where double zero slots were added to make it 38-slot wheel and which was known as American Roulette.

Roulette is simply a game of chance or luck which makes it one of the most popular and exciting games in the world.
