Is the Lottery Considered Gambling

In the United States many individual states have a lottery program. People buy lottery tickets; the money goes into the awards and into the state coffers. Everything from scratch off tickets to mega-million dollar tickets and number drawings are available. While these programs are beneficial to the economy there are several people who object to lotteries because they are considered to be gambling.
When someone behaves responsibly and purchases a lottery ticket once a week or when the jackpot gets really high there is no problem, people of all ages indulge in this game of chance on a regular basis.  However when you have someone who is laying out $500 a week on scratch off tickets, buying them compulsively and unable to stop that is when you have a problem.Football bets
Gambling addiction is a very serious problem for many people and while you may not think that the lottery qualifies it can in fact be an additional wagering habit that contributes to the addiction.
It’s important to know that you don’t have to camp out in a casino or spend 48 hours straight playing poker online to be an addict. When you lose sight of realistic spending and don’t keep a wagering habit under control that is when you know that addiction has kicked in. Whether you approve of lotteries or not you must still understand that for someone who is a gambler and addicted to the game of chance the simple act of purchasing a scratch off ticket could be similar to an alcoholic who is on the wagon taking a drink.
